For oft, when on my couch I lie...

There was a noticeably higher traffic density since my last visit to the Lakes. I made an interesting visit to Dove Cottage and then walked into Grasmere, now a place with no heart.

After visiting the churchyard and the graves of the Wordsworth family I bought some buns and a drink and went to sit in the central grassy area which is apparently owned by the NT;  it is in very poor condition. Then I set off up the road for a walk  to Easedale  Tarn.

It is a pity the first section of the path has been made by the laying of large cobbles, making it very uncomfortable walking. They may have been laid here to help drain away flood water, of course, as it's very close to the beck.

I returned to the car and drove along to Rydal. I arrived at the Rydal Hall cafĂ© a few minutes after closing yet the helpful lady there allowed me to buy a tea and cake, which I much enjoyed outside by the  lovely stream.
I walked to Rydal church and then strolled round Dora's field, a beautiful place which to my shame I have never visited before.

Later at Baysbrown campsite there was plenty of space and although the day had been reasonably warm by bedtime the temperature dropped to around 10C.
