Climbers on Raven Crag above Chapel Stile

I was staying at Baysbrown Campsite in Chapel Stile.
Yesterday in the afternoon it stayed sunny at Baysbrown, but by bedtime the temperature in the camper had lowered to 10ยบ. In the morning I got up late, had a decent breakfast and then went to Elterwater to park.
I wanted to explore again the paths up towards Red Bank and over into Grasmere and wearing everyday trainers I easily reached the col. I explored the whole col area, to familiarise myself with the routes shown on AW's map.
Discovering I had left my camera in the camper, I went down to it and took the opportunity to eat my lunch there. Then I set off on the path behind the church in Chapel Stile. There were climbers on Raven Crag.
The ascent to the col proved to be very steep, but I persevered and arrived there between Dow Bank and Spedding Crag.

It was very windy. I could see the route to Silver Howe, but the time was now after three, and I contented myself with taking photos of what looked like old wall footings, and the views from Spedding Crag, and walked on to Dow Bank.

I went carefully down to the road and noticed that the fence which had originally been erected on top of the wall had come loose in places. An ingenious method of supporting the fence has been fashioned by using long stakes on the far side fastened to the railings. Small things like this interest me and would probably go unnoticed by most passers-by. Maybe I should get a life!
