Holme Wood, Grizedale (Nicky Nook)

Wed 23 Dec 2015

I'm afraid that this post has been added too early, and because of the way the Blogger is arranged the posts must sort themselves by the date added, and not the date on which the walk was made. Silly, really.

Signpost at Grizedale Bridge

On Wednesday 23 December 2015 I took a series of still photos which I later compiled into a brief video sequence with music and added sound effects. This was a first experiment. I could have chosen a more attractive place, because at this time of the year after heavy rain the track was extremely muddy and there wasn't much light!

The opening scene

New pathway and bridge

Once over the bridge a new path avoids most of the muddy area which leads into the wood

Board walk alongside Grizedale Brook

Name carving is still popular

The walk is very attractive during the sunny weather but on this occasion it was dark and damp!

Approaching the reservoir

The reservoir dam is just out of sight

On reaching the reservoir the permissive path turns right to join the main track which comes up from Slean End along Grizedale, and then turns right again.

The track carries on to the edge of the wood
Magnificent beeches

The track leaves the wood at a gate, continuing thence towards Fell End Farm. I stopped taking photos here.

As a first attempt the video is rather dull, and the sound, which took a long time to arrange to coincide with some of the scenes and mix with music, was too quiet. But it will be better next time!
