Stang Yule - Hazelhurst Round Trip |
So few walks recently, so needed a bit of a leg stretch. Where better than an easy place to reach without draining the car fuel tank - Delph Lane and once more Hazelhurst Fell! I took it clockwise.
I didn't take any photos on this trip, it being grey and dull, with, at first, Fair Snape Fell summit under cloud. It cleared, but there was never any sun to help show the sculpture of the hills. The slight wind was from the south west and cold so it was an uncomfortable lunch spot in one of the old stone shooting butts.
It was quite a bit warmer down by the intake wall, where I finished my Lucozade and peanut butter and honey sandwich. I was hoping to meet the estate worker I have spoken with before but being Saturday there was no-one about at all. I would like to know what kind of trees have been planted near the public road where the once delightful path has now become a muddy mess until the grass regrows in spring. No other walkers about either so I had the fells to myself.
