Clapham - Crummack Round

Wed 25 Mar 2015

The lake on the Farrer Estate at Clapham
After a delay at the new junction with the Kirkby Lonsdale Road on the M6 I met up with Colin and his brother John in Clapham. The forecast was for sun early in the day and some cloud later, but in fact most of the walk was under a blue sky and bright sunshine. We set off along Clapdale Drive through the Farrer Estate by the lake up towards Trow Gill, stopping at Ingleborough Cave to chat with the owner.

Then followed a climb to Long Lane which took us over to Long Crag where we stopped for lunch. Afterwards we dropped down to Crummack with fine views of Moughton beyond.

The signpost was like this when we arrived...

Walking down Crummack Lane we took a stile on the right which took us over over the hip of Norber below Nappa Scars and Robin Proctor's Scar with its many scattered boulders.

A new path for me

Colin chose the road down to Thwaite Lane, and John and I joined him along it later. We then walked back to Clapham down a steep hill and through the tunnels under the estate grounds.

An excellent day, John; thanks.
