Being
a sunny day but with a blustery wind, my plan to go walking seemed less
inviting, but I was determined to get out on to the hills somewhere. I parked
at Slean End and walked up Grizedale.
Just
a little along the path I noticed what appeared to be a way up the fell side I
had not seen before, and I investigated. It was a track used by racing
enthusiasts - mountain bikers I think. There were untidy remains of racing
tape left tied to the bushes. The track wound about and eventually gave on to
the top of the fell, near a shelter and a seat, not attached to any wall. I
doubt anyone ever used this route, or the seat, and I had not see it before, so
it was a good find.
I
went on to the summit where the wind was quite chilly and then descended by the
stepped path, where loose chatter has made it less muddy, down to the
reservoir. I had on my old Meindl shoes and apart from the ball of my right
foot swelling and being painful, particularly afterwards, they were
comfortable and stable. I ought to try the new ones soon.
A reasonable day, but for
one thing: I forgot my camera and so cannot add any new photos to my blog. I shall
return some day to take a few of the newly discovered route
