I drove to Clough Head on Grane, arriving there about noon, and had a mug of tea and a scone. I picked up one of my books so there are now three left. I went off to check the signpost again, which has still not been rectified. I told a United Utilities ranger at the café about it, and he told me how to report the problem officially on the county's website. Apparently the Mario site is no longer used for this purpose. I did it at home, but the website is being re-developed and finding the correct page was not exactly straightforward at first.
It was sunny when I started, but not enough to melt the black ice. Parts of the path were dangerously slippery. There was a spot of sleet and rain while out on the other side of the valley but not much. I left for home just turned one o'clock as darker clouds were gathering.
