Views from the road through Delph Wood after felling |
Andrew and I
decided to wait to see what the weather brought today, and perhaps venture out
for a short walk in the afternoon. But when I got up the sun was shining! So we
decided to make a start for the Hazelhurst round, albeit there was a strong and
gusty wind. The felling has proceeded and there is now hardly anything left of Delph Wood.
We walked all round the circuit,
over the top to Fiendsdale Head. The wind was behind us till then, but facing
us as we descended Winny Brow. We had a short sharp shower with enormous gusts
of wind at Hazelhurst Farm, but it soon cleared, with rain to come again as we
topped the rise past the estate house.
We stopped at Fell End where I had once reported a sheep that had been hit by a car, and had a good chat with the farmer who was in a jolly and friendly mood.
I wore my new boots, and found them very comfortable. We reached home just turned four. A reasonable outing; but hardly true August weather
